> ❓ Nice ad but the point of learning shortcuts is expressly so I don’t have to take my hands off the keyboard/mouse combo
> 🅰 Some shortcut keys are out of reach of the left hand.

> ❓ They are completely delusional if they think a touchscreen is better than a hotkey. Just look at how long it takes them to tap the buttons and how careful they have to do it.
> 🅰 Some keyshort needs two hands, or needs right hand left the mouse to press it, like backspace.
> ❓ Why not just get an external numpad block keyboard and customize the hotkeys however you like?
> 🅰 HID is only a function of rimu, it also has GPIO and control module. These are not available in any extended keyboard.
> ❓ I don’t even understand what “has GPIO and control module” means for a EDA worker.
> 🅰 please have a look at this [image](https://rimu.me/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/host.jpg), You can easy understand what rimu for.
> ❓ Some sort of modular embedded controller?
> 🅰 The module normally contoled by the host (showed in the post).

> ❓ the actions shown are already default keybinds
> 🅰Yes, like the lock/unlock (L), it’s not easy to press the L key by left hand. Just send keybinds.
> ❓ Don’t take this the wrong way, but in my personal opinion your product is trying to 10 things at a mediocre level, rather than one or two at a good level.
> No one wants a touch screen macropad. I get that it gives you customisability, but elgato solved this ages ago with the stream deck.
> A touchscreen CNC control is silly at best, and dangerous at worst. I would not trust the red stop button.
> No one who is kicking back to watch YouTube wants to carry such a controller, it’s just not needed.
> It all seems rather ‘half-baked’, and not very useful to me. The UI, which is probably the only selling point of the touchscreen, doesn’t even look pleasing (to me).
> The email demo seems no more useful than an ahk script.
> I suppose I’m just not the target market, but advertising this for productivity is not going to be very convincing I feel (and I suggest that you drop the CNC support, that’s a little risky imo).
> 🅰 Thanks for your suggestions, especially the [CNC stop button](https://community.rimu.me/uploads/default/original/1X/14ef6c0394e9bb0429e878d3baea8d218de553fb.jpeg). We also plan to use GPIO to connect a physical button. But it’s not ready yet.
> Our product is just a slight improvement on the existing one, and we will upload some modules applications soon.
> ❓ using GPIO to connect a physical button’ is just not good enough. It worries me that such a scheme was even suggested.
> For desktop use, fun-and-games, sure. But for a CNC (or any industrial machine) the e-stop should be physically and electrically able to stop the machine. Running it through your code is not a good risk to take. Even with interrupts, RTOS, and whatever other fancy stuff you put in, an E stop just should not be software controlled whenever possible. This is an issue for marketing a product both to computer users and for industrial machinery.
> 🅰 Thank you for your feedback, I understand your concern, but some simple (cheap) industrial equipment and machines are not equipped with such complete safety protection. For example, our CNC engraving machine is only [controlled by a keyboard](https://community.rimu.me/uploads/default/original/1X/6866fb9e30d9ae88359dd8a6550bf73ae6f13ecc.jpeg). Rimu can only slightly solve some of these types of equipment, and may also help some people.

> ❓ So… It’s a stream deck?
> 🅰 No, Rimu can attach many other modules. The shortcut is just one application.

> ❓ Appreciate this has features other than HID, but in the context of KiCAD MATRIC [https://matricapp.com/](https://matricapp.com/) or anything else similar would also work.
> 🅰 Thanks for the informaions. We will study it.

> ❓ Sorry, but a hotkey on a keyboard does a better job than a touch screen.
> 🅰 The H.I.D Keyboard can only be considered a supplementary tool for keyboards and cannot replace all the functions of a full-sized keyboard. It is primarily designed to provide additional shortcut key options for users of compact keyboards.
> ❓ Which would be better served by ditching the silly half-sized keyboard and using a full sized keyboard in the first place; it is both more functional and uses less space. But it is pictured with a full sized keyboard anyway.
> Sorry I’m not trying to shit on your project here. Making things is cool, you’re having fun and learning stuff and being creative and that is great. If you have a use for it then awesome, I just don’t personally see the point.
> 🅰 Rimu is capable of much more than just this. One of its key functions is the H.I.D Keyboard function.
