I’m pretty technical. I read this twice. I have no idea what it does. Is this a device for recording video? Is it for surveying? While the description talks engineer speak, for the rest of us, maybe put at least one line into the description to tell us what it does? Who knows… I might need these things?!
It can be understood that host + stepper motor control module = motor controller, host + RFID module = advanced RFID card reader, host + PWM module = advanced LED dimmer, and there will be many more modules. But only one host is needed.
seems like mostly a toy for engineers and ppl in the computer science/engineering field, similar to a flipper zero. Kind of does whatever you want, depending on modules. Mostly depends on how much of your own time/effort/money you wanna put into it, as well as the same for the community at large. Never heard of it except these ads, but an ESP32, a computer, and a touchscreen isn’t a very unique combo, so this likely isn’t too groundbreaking. The modularity is the most interesting part tbh

its for hacking, that little screw on the bottom u stick an antenna in, and you now have a far range RFID reader. This far range sadly isn’t that far as each RFID chip is in only such a small antenna. It’s claiming a lot of other things in that front picture. A Raspberry Pi can do the same thing; it’s like ordering a pizza with all the toppings, when you only want pepperoni and not the rest… why get that extra stuff? When you can just buy a Raspberry Pi, and probably Google the type of code you want, and simply upload it.
im now like 100 percent sure if you pop that cheap thing open… you will find some type of Chinese off brand cheap raspberry pi, coded to make this small thing look purdy…… alot of tech knowledge is applying the knowledge while knowing WHAT ACTIONS are needed, aka letting you know what tools you need.
Raspberry Pi has a faster processing speed, but I believe that if you connect an external RFID reader and write your own program, it will also be a troublesome task. What Rimu wants to do is to simplify these things.and rimu using ESP32S3 chip.
Most of those controller like stepper motor controller or others without LCD screen, and it’s hard to operater.
